MARCH 2026

The Give-and-Get You Can’t Ignore

I’ll tell you something I’ve learned over the years: gratitude isn’t just a Hallmark card thing. It’s not something you slap on social media once a year and call it good. Gratitude is a muscle, and the more you use it, the stronger your life — and business — gets.

Think about it: the people who go around complaining about everything never seem to catch a break. Meanwhile, the folks who stop, say thanks, and mean it? They get opportunities, loyalty, and yes — even luck — that seems to show up out of nowhere. Coincidence? Maybe. Or maybe gratitude is like a boomerang. You throw it out there, and it comes back in ways you didn’t expect.

Here’s the kicker: gratitude doesn’t cost a thing. You don’t need a gift, a fancy dinner, or a trophy to make it work. A simple “thank you,” a handwritten note, or even recognizing someone publicly can shift the whole dynamic. People notice. People respond. People want to work with you again. It’s that simple.

And don’t forget the self-benefit. When you focus on what’s good, what’s working, and who’s helping you along the way, your outlook changes. You start seeing possibilities instead of problems, solutions instead of roadblocks. Your energy changes. Your confidence grows. Heck, you even sleep better at night. That’s the hidden bonus nobody talks about — gratitude isn’t just polite, it’s practical

So here’s my challenge: today, this week, this month — give gratitude freely. Write the note, make the call, say it face-to-face. Because the funny thing about gratitude? The more you give it, the more you get. And not just back from others — back into yourself.

Gratitude isn’t just nice. It’s a game-changer.

Gratitude in Action: Quick Wins for the Week

Gratitude doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t need a Hallmark card factory. Just a few simple actions can shift your energy, your team, and your business. Try these this week:

1. Handwritten Notes: Send a short, sincere note to a teammate, dealer, or client. Bonus points if it’s on actual paper — because people notice effort.

2. Call, Don’t Text: Pick up the phone. Tell someone you appreciate their hard work or partnership. Voice adds sincerity that emojis just can’t match.

3. Public Shout-Outs: Recognize someone during a team huddle or meeting. It costs nothing but builds loyalty like nothing else.

4. Small Surprises: A coffee, snack, or favorite treat left on a desk says “I see you” without a single word.

5. Reflect Daily: Take two minutes at the end of your day to list 3 things you’re grateful for. It rewires your brain to see possibilities, not problems.

Pro Tip: The boomerang effect is real. The more you give gratitude, the more you get — in trust, loyalty, energy, and yes, even results.
